League of Dreams: How a Charity Football Tournament Gave Children Ten Days of Summer
A few months ago, the football field was filled with applause. Teams stepped onto the pitch, and supporters cheered for every goal.
But at the League of Dreams Charity Tournament, the score was never the most important part.
That day, everyone played for a summer that was still ahead. For mornings when children would jump out of bed because they knew something exciting was waiting for them. For new friendships, late-evening conversations, and adventures that would later begin with the words, “Do you remember when…?”
That was the beginning of League of Dreams.
We wanted to give children ten days where they didn’t have to rush, worry about adult problems, or feel the need to be strong all the time. A place where they could wake up excited for the day ahead, stay active, laugh until their stomachs hurt, and fall asleep each evening pleasantly tired after a day full of memories.
When the final whistle blew, the real work had only just begun.
Our team started building the camp programme, selecting activities, planning every detail of daily life, and preparing everything needed for the session. Behind every organizational decision was one simple thought: the children should feel happy, safe, and welcome.

We wanted the camp to be a place where it felt easy to start a conversation with someone new. A place where every child could discover an activity they truly enjoyed and where caring adults were always nearby to answer any question—even the very important ones, like, “What’s happening after dinner?”
Then, arrival day finally came.
At first, many of the children were shy. They listened carefully as everyone introduced themselves and quietly observed one another. But camps have a remarkable way of bringing people together. It doesn’t take long before strangers begin waiting for each other outside the dining hall, sharing inside jokes, and saving seats for one another.

League of Dreams gave children ten unforgettable days.
They were filled with sports, creativity, teamwork, new experiences, and countless moments of simple summer happiness. The children competed in games, painted, danced, created things with their own hands, solved challenges together, and cheered for their teams.
Yet the most meaningful moments were never listed in the schedule.

Friendships began with casual conversations. Support started with the simple words, “Let’s do it together.” Uncertainty slowly turned into confidence, and activities that once seemed unfamiliar became favorites after just one attempt.
Day by day, the children discovered more than new hobbies—they discovered more about themselves.
Quiet voices grew more confident. Shy smiles became brighter. Within each team, children found something every young person deserves to feel: that they were seen, welcomed, and celebrated.
That became the true outcome of League of Dreams.
Not the number of activities we organized or the carefully planned schedule, but the joy in children’s eyes, new friendships, the courage to keep trying, and the sense of safety that grows when people genuinely care for one another.

By the end of camp, the suitcases felt heavier than when the children first arrived.
Inside were handmade crafts, photographs, small souvenirs, and countless stories they couldn’t wait to tell once they got home.
There were also hugs before departure, promises to stay in touch, and one question that is always difficult to answer:
“Will we come back again?”
League of Dreams became possible because of the generosity and kindness of so many people.
Every contribution made during the League of Dreams Charity Tournament became part of these ten days. It became a new adventure, a friendship, a game, a smile, or an evening no one wanted to end.
We sincerely thank Avtomotiv, Work.ua, Biosphere, MOVA, and VILNI Camp for their partnership, trust, and support in making this dream a reality.
Our heartfelt thanks also go to every team, every player, every supporter, every donor, and everyone who stood with us throughout the tournament.
Just a few months ago, this summer existed only as an idea.
Today, it lives on in photographs, lasting friendships, and memories the children will carry with them for years to come.
The dream that first brought us onto the football field has become a reality.
Together with Rise of Ukraine, we will continue creating more opportunities for children to smile, dream, and believe in brighter days ahead. 💙💛
