Returning to civilian life does not follow a single path.

After service, people may find themselves dealing with questions about their health, documents, employment, relationships with loved ones, emotional well-being, or simply how to rebuild their everyday life. It is not always clear where to turn first.

That is why V.Rise Hub, together with the Charity Fund “Right to Protection,” is launching a joint project that will provide veterans, women veterans, and their family members with access to different types of support in one space.

For Rise of Ukraine, this is an important step in developing our veteran support programme. V.Rise Hub is being created as a place where people can come with their questions even when they are still unsure what kind of assistance they need.

Why this format matters

Every person’s experience of returning to civilian life is different, but many of the challenges they face are similar.

According to a study of veterans’ needs, 73.6% of respondents require psychological support. There are also ongoing challenges related to access to medical and rehabilitation services, social support, and clear navigation between different available services.

In these situations, people often have to search for a psychologist on their own, contact a lawyer separately, deal with social issues themselves, and figure out which programmes and services are actually available to them.

V.Rise Hub aims to make this process easier.

Support here is built around the needs of the individual rather than around a single service.

What can people come to V.Rise Hub for?

The space will offer several areas of support.

Veterans, women veterans, and their family members will be able to access psychological consultations, legal assistance, social support, and case management.

If someone is unsure which specialist they need, the team will help clarify their request and guide them through the next steps.

Alongside individual support, V.Rise Hub will host group meetings, family events, integration activities, and other programmes developed in response to the needs of the veteran community.

This means that people will be able to come with a specific legal question, seek psychological support, ask for help finding the right service, or simply start with a conversation about what is happening in their lives.

When support is connected rather than separated into individual services

Emotional well-being, social needs, legal matters, and everyday adaptation are often closely connected.

That is why V.Rise Hub is designed to ensure that people do not have to navigate this entire journey on their own.

For example, a person may initially come for a legal consultation, but during the process it may become clear that psychological support or assistance with social matters is also needed. In another situation, the first point of contact may be a case manager who helps identify the available options and determine the next steps.

This approach makes it possible to look at a person’s situation more broadly and provide support at different stages of their journey.

Our partnership with the Charity Fund “Right to Protection” helps make this support more systematic and accessible. The Fund has extensive experience in legal protection and assistance for people affected by the war, while V.Rise Hub is developing a dedicated space for the veteran community.

A space for veterans and their families

A key focus of V.Rise Hub is supporting not only veterans and women veterans, but also the people closest to them.

Returning from service affects the entire family. Daily routines change, family roles may shift, and new questions and challenges can emerge as everyone adjusts in their own way.

That is why family members will also be able to seek support and participate in programmes and activities at the Hub.

We want V.Rise Hub to be a place where people do not have to prove that their concern is serious enough to ask for help. If there is a question, a difficulty, or simply a need to understand what to do next, that is already enough reason to reach out.

What comes next

The launch of this joint project marks the beginning of the regular work of V.Rise Hub.

In the coming weeks, our team will share more about each area of support, introduce the specialists involved, and explain the programmes, meeting formats, and opportunities available at the Hub.

We will also explain how to contact the Hub, what the first conversation looks like, and what happens after someone reaches out.

It is important to us that V.Rise Hub feels clear and accessible even before a person walks through the door.

You do not need to have a complete plan. Taking the first step is enough. From there, our team will help you understand the available options and find the right way forward.

This is how we continue developing our veteran support programme and creating more opportunities for people and communities together with Rise of Ukraine. 💜
